The Early Years of a child’s formal education are critical and formative. What happens between the ages of two and five sets the tone for the rest of their learning journey.
Our children at this Foundation Stage are typically grouped into Preschool (age 2 – 4) and Reception (age 4 – 5). However, the entire Early Years cohort is housed in the same classroom with access to the same resources and following the same outdoor timetable.
Free Flow Learning
At Dania our Early Years provision is based on the idea of the Unique Child. Where creativity, critical thinking and active learning are developed through play and exploration. And each child is free to pursue their own interests and ideas in a free flowing environment.
Within our Early Years setting, teachers nurture and scaffold learning. Our free flow approach to teaching means that instead of organising daily activities for our children, we adapt our room layouts to create opportunities for our children to explore and investigate. We allow our children to lead their daily activities. We go wherever they choose to take us. Reacting to their interests and seizing on opportunities to use their ideas as learning opportunities. Our teachers will scaffold their activities as they develop.

With our high adult to child ratio, there are lots of great opportunities for our teachers to really focus on each individual child throughout the day, and nurture them in a safe and supportive environment.
A Life Outdoors
Outdoor learning forms a huge part of our approach, at Dania. No matter what, regardless of the weather, we go outside for at least two hours a day, if not more. Our Early Years students have their own designated space to explore, investigate and enjoy. Their very own construction playground. Filled with lots of different materials – tree trunks, branches, sand pits, water supplies, pallets – there are no pre-designed or assembled structures at all. Our children have the freedom to adapt the space as they wish, developing their own creative structures and making it into their own play area, as the mood takes them.
Our Early Years learning is fun, playful, individualised, active, and creative, all within a safe, supportive and nurturing environment. Everything it should be when you’re between 2 and 5 years old.
