Meet your Reception Teacher Hulya Ucar.
As a Reception teacher, with Danish upbringing, my approach to learning for this group is definitely a bit different from the mainstream English approach. Still we ensure to follow the Danish ‘Bornehaveklasse’ goal as well as the English Jolly Phonics / Abacus which is part of the English curriculum. Free play indoors, outdoor play and learning Arts, Culture, ICT and morning assemblies integrates us into the whole school. Whilst having an open-door policy with Preschool we create a safe and warm atmosphere that progress us for Year 1.
We follow Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, which consists of 7 areas of learning.

-Communication & Language
-Understanding the World
-Arts & Design
We also do some more ‘formal’ learning during the week, namely in English, Danish and Maths, but this is limited to 20 minutes for each session as we do not want the children sitting still for too long.
